A CELEBRATION OF SPORTING HISTORY.

How can we step back and reimagine the evolutionary chain of sportswear to develop a new performance design language?
Moving into the next phase of the project it was important for me to find and assemble references from the past and present that captured a common thread through time. An example being the applications of knitwear throughout sporting history and the wide variety of styles that it could come in. I found the most compelling references to be ones that showed craft through an object or material, or highlighted silhouettes and shapes that felt like a modern adaptation of tradition.
When it came to choosing which sports to focus on I wanted to highlight popular Olympic sports but also ones that would allow me to create a larger range of garment types and accessories. To help visualize the blend of these curated design elements I used AI imaging tools and photoshop to develop the full look suggestion for the direction of each sport. For now this project is focused mostly on apparel and footwear design direction, but I hope to continue developing this collection into a larger world building project that encompasses a broader spectrum of design behind the Olympics.
